AN ADVANCED COURSE ON MECHANICS' LIENS, STOP NOTICES AND BOND RIGHTS

This is an advanced course designed for credit personnel who have knowledge of basic credit management and mechanics' lien procedures. Cases relevant to the lien law and bonds will be reviewed and interpreted.

BASIC MECHANICS' LIEN LAW FOR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY PERSONNEL

The time frames and legal implications of the Mechanics Lien Law will be explained. Legal and procedural ramifications of the Mechanics' Lien Law for the Supplier, Subcontractor & General Contractor, including the Preliminary Notice, Mechanics' Lien, Stop Notice, Bonds, Joint Checks, Waivers and Releases will be discussed.

BASICS OF CREDIT MANAGEMENT

This course is designed for credit people of all levels: collection clerks, credit supervisors, credit managers, assistant credit managers and other company employees who work with the credit department. Topics include: Credit Policy; Credit Applications; The Steps of Credit Investigation; Proven Credit and Collection Procedures; Returned Checks; Handling Rush Orders; How to deny Credit properly and Establishing Credit Limits.

INTERMEDIATE MECHANICS' LIEN LAW

This is a half-day workshop to discuss pertinent issues, common myths and other points of interest having to do with extending credit and collecting money in the "job basis" environment. Discussion will include ideas such as:

"If there is a loan, the job is a "sure thing." "If I have lien rights, I will get paid"; "Public works are "easy money"; and "You can extend money to marginal customer as long as you get a joint check agreement."

MECHANICS' LIEN LAW FOR GENERAL CONTRACTORS & DEVELOPERS

Legal and procedural aspects of the Mechanics' Lien Law as it applies to general contractors and developers will be discussed. Defenses to the lien law and Remedies are examined.

NEVADA LIEN LAW

Learn the time frames and legal aspects of the lien law for Nevada. Both private and public works will be addressed.

ORIENTATION

BICA hosts member orientation for all members. Held at the BICA office in Los Angeles, BICA will treat you to lunch and acquaint your company with all the new and existing services offered.

REMEDIES FOR PUBLIC WORKS & FEDERAL PROJECTS

Public works and Federal projects maybe the cement holding the building industry together during these times of tight profit margins. This half-day course will provide you with the pertinent information that is necessary to your getting paid.

SEMINAR ON THE PRELIMINARY NOTICE, MECHANICS' LIENS & STOP NOTICES: PRIVATE & PUBLIC WORKS

Time frames and procedures will be reviewed that address: Elements of the Preliminary Notice, Waivers and Releases, and Mechanics' Liens & Stop Notices on Private & Public works of Improvement.

THE VOUCHER SYSTEM - A BANKING EXEC SHOWS THE INSIDE TRACK

Learn the ins & outs of the voucher system. Learn how to process and send out vouchers in a timely manner; How to accept a voucher and verify that a voucher is valid. You will also learn the importance of your preliminary notice and how it relates to the voucher.

BICA Classes are approved for California Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit by the State Bar of California.
